French Chocolate Treats: About French Nugget

Our delicious French chocolate treats can be traced back to living in the South of France during the early 1980’s. My wife and I met as college students at the University of Nice. Together we enjoyed all that this region has to offer: an abundance of sunshine, blue Mediterranean waters, and fresh, locally grown foods. As avid hikers, we were drawn to the Alps and the Provence region with its lavender fields. During this time we experienced the many culinary treats of this culturally rich country. These delicacies were produced by French Artisans using only a handful of pure, natural ingredients.

Today, we live in Minnesota but still maintain a home on the French Riviera. The picture on our French Nugget label is of our village, Villefranche-sur-Mer just outside of Nice. Three years ago, I decided to create a chocolate treat that would remind us of our excursions in Southern France, and make my wife happy! My goal was to use a whole-food cooking technique, very minimal ingredients, and no refined or artificial sugar. After one year and countless trials and errors, the first French Nugget, Almond Heaven, was born. Since then, we have added two more flavors: Peanut Delight and Oatmeal Dream. Each chocolate treat is made with only four or five all-natural, pure ingredients.

Now we enjoy French Nugget when we are hiking or canoeing in the Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota, or simply exploring the lakes and parks around the Twin Cities. Our French Nugget chocolate is easy to stow in our backpacks and provides us with a healthy and energizing snack.
